Reviews of this tour
Excellent experience. Very professional, on schedule and a fun atmosphere.
Nice option to visit amalfi and Positano by boat. I would recommend not to expect a full deep dive guide. It is more a good transportation with some side facts while getting to amalfi and positano. We booked without Ravello and the times in Amalfi and Positano were just right. Amalfi is largely accessible with a babystroller but positano is nearly impossible. Without carrying the stoller some steps.
Tour operator did a respectable job managing all the logistics of various groups and languages across a multi stop, multi transportation mode (van, boat), tour. Guides, drivers, captain and crew were all professional and joyful. "Rosa" did a great job.
Everything was superb, special mention about Maddalena, she was exceptional. Very very helpful and pleasent. A big thank you to het
This is the best way from Naples to visit Amalfi and Positano. Much better with a cool breeze and beautiful coastline then going on a bus up congested roads. Trip well organised to make sure you knew when to be back etc.
Why take a boat tour from Naples to the Amalfi Coast
By road, Naples to Amalfi means the coast road: narrow, winding and slow from May to September. By boat you skip the traffic and see what the road hides, the villages from below, the cliffs and the old watchtowers. It is also the simplest way to fit Amalfi and Positano into one day without changing buses or ferries.
The route: Naples, the Sorrento coast, Amalfi, Positano
After pick-up, a short transfer takes you to the port. Once on board you sail towards Sorrento with Vesuvius behind you, along a coast of terraces hanging over the sea, the Baths of Queen Giovanna, the Bay of Ieranto and the marine reserve of Punta Campanella. Past the cape come the Li Galli islands, Nerano, Praiano and the Fjord of Furore. The tour leader tells you about each place as you go.
About three and a half hours in Amalfi
Amalfi is the first stop and the longest. The boat docks by the town, and piazza Duomo is a few minutes' walk away, with the steps up to the Cathedral of Saint Andrew and the Cloister of Paradise. Further up the main street is the Paper Museum, a reminder of the handmade paper Amalfi has been known for since the Middle Ages. Lunch is not included, so this is when most people stop to eat; there is also time for the beach next to the harbour.
One hour in Positano
Positano is the town you have seen in photos: houses stacked up the hillside, the green and yellow majolica dome of Santa Maria Assunta, the Spiaggia Grande at the bottom. In an hour you can walk from the beach up through the shops, sandal makers and ceramics studios and be back on board. The best view of the town, though, is from the boat, as you arrive and as you leave. Our Positano map helps you make the most of the hour.
Pick-up in Naples and return
There are six pick-up points in central Naples between 7:00 and 7:40, from via Caracciolo on the seafront to the Starhotels Terminus in piazza Garibaldi; the full list is in the meeting point section above. At the end of the day you are brought back to the same meeting point. Wear comfortable shoes, because Positano is all steps, and bring sun protection in summer.
Amalfi, Positano and Ravello
If you want to see Ravello too, the hilltop village above Amalfi, there is the boat tour from Naples to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, from € 135. All our departures are on the Amalfi Coast boat tours page.
