Reviews of this tour
Enjoyable day. Very well organised in particular that Capri has high tourist traffic. Our guide Anastasia was very knowledgeable, helpful, and kind and provided clear instructions and detailed information. Our skipper Christian was very entertaining and also provided interesting fun facts. Overall a great day and our bus pick up and returns were comfortable as were the boats. Highly recommend.
Brilliant day! All ran very smoothly; lovely calm ferry ride and the tour around the island was very informative and pretty. We opted to not have the swim stop; and had 4 hours free time in Capri. We decided to spend our time in Anacapri as the less busy and more lovely part of town, which was lovely. Anastasia was a brilliant guide, very knowledgeable but also kept everything and everyone on track. My only feedback would be regarding the transfer to the Ferry in the AM. We were coming in from Naples area and had to wait an hour before the ferry left. While it was nice and sunny and I could read my book, it also felt like the transfer could be a bit later to reduce this wait time.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Tour! We had a wonderful time on the Gulf of Naples and Capri sightseeing tour. The experience was very well organised and made for a perfect day on the water. A special thanks to our guide Anastasia, who was friendly, helpful and made the tour even more enjoyable. We first travelled by boat to Capri, had some time to explore and enjoy the beautiful island, and then continued on another boat to see the nearby attractions along the coast. The sightseeing was beautiful, and the swimming stop was definitely one of the highlights of the day. The whole experience was relaxing, fun and offered some amazing views of Capri and the surrounding coastline. Highly recommended if you're visiting Naples/Capri and want to experience the area from the sea! 🌊⛵️🏝️
Everything was great, we really enjoyed the tour and would go again if we ever had the pleasure of returning to visit!😊
great views, relaxing trip. swim stop was superb in the heat. can recommend
From Naples to Capri: how the day works
You meet the assistant at the pick-up point nearest your hotel; the one closest to the cruise terminal is Hotel NH Panorama in via Medina at 7:20, the last is Starhotels Terminus by the central station at 7:40. A transfer takes you to the port and you board. The boat leaves with Vesuvius behind you and the city slipping away: the view of Capri from Naples, the island on the horizon, becomes the view of Naples from the sea. The assistants explain the day and help you plan the hours on the island. On arrival at Marina Grande you pay the landing fee of the town of Capri, € 5 per person, not included in the price.
Free time in Capri
You have a few hours to yourself. From Marina Grande the funicular climbs to the Piazzetta, the centre of Capri town; a ten-minute walk takes you to the Gardens of Augustus, above the Faraglioni, Marina Piccola and the bends of via Krupp. For a quieter island take the bus or a taxi up to Anacapri, where the chairlift reaches Monte Solaro, the highest point of Capri, and Villa San Michele, the house of the Swedish doctor Axel Munthe, is a short walk from the square. Bus, funicular, chairlift and tickets are paid on the spot. If you are not sure how to divide the time, ask the assistants before you land.
Capri sightseeing from the boat
When the free time is over you board again for the cruise around the island, the part of Capri you cannot see from land: sheer cliffs, inlets and caves that only a boat can reach.
The sea caves
The boat passes the White Grotto, the Green Grotto and the Marvellous Grotto, each with its own reflections on the water. The Blue Grotto is not part of the cruise: if you want to go inside, arrange it during the free time; our Blue Grotto guide has times and prices.
Villa Malaparte and the Faraglioni
Along the south coast the boat rounds the headland of Villa Malaparte, the red house built on the rock above the sea, one of the most photographed buildings on the island; you also see the Salto di Tiberio and the Natural Arch. Then the Faraglioni, the three rocks that stand for Capri, much taller from the water than they look from the Piazzetta.
The swimming stop at Marina Piccola
From June to September, if you have chosen the option, the boat stops in the bay of Marina Piccola, sheltered by the cliffs and facing the Faraglioni, where the water is clear and you can see the bottom. After the swim the boat heads back to the mainland and the transfer returns you to the morning meeting point.
With or without the swimming stop: prices and dates
In April, May and October the tour runs without the swim, from € 94 for adults. From June to September you choose: without the swim from € 105 (€ 120 in July and August), with the stop at Marina Piccola from € 120 (€ 135 in July and August). Children aged 3 to 6 pay a reduced rate (for example € 85 instead of € 94), infants up to 2 travel free. Both options are in the price table above and in the calendar.
Practical notes
Be at the meeting point at least five minutes early. Bring a swimsuit and a towel if you take the swim, and in any case a hat and sun cream: between the crossing, the cruise and the stop you spend most of the day on the water. Lunch is not included. The Capri map helps you plan the free time; the route of the cruise can change with the sea.
Other Capri tours from Naples
If you want a guide on land as well, the guided tour of Capri and Anacapri from Naples adds a licensed guide and a minibus on the island after the cruise. From Portici and Torre del Greco the same day starts closer to home and costs less: Capri by boat from Portici and Torre del Greco, from € 84. All departures are on the Capri boat tours page; other days out with pick-up in the city are on boat tours from Naples.
