Three towns, one boat, no coast road
From Pompeii the Amalfi Coast is close on the map and far by road: the drive over the mountains to Positano or Amalfi takes well over an hour without traffic, and in summer there is always traffic. This tour goes by sea from Castellammare di Stabia instead. Tell us where you are staying and we send you the nearest meeting point in Pompeii or Castellammare; the transfer takes you to the port and the boat does the rest.
Down the peninsula
With Vesuvius behind you the boat crosses to the Sorrento Coast: the terraces of Sorrento on the cliffs, the Baths of Queen Giovanna, the Bay of Ieranto, the marine protected area of Punta Campanella. Round the cape the Amalfi Coast opens up, the Li Galli islands, Nerano, Praiano, the Fjord of Furore. The tour leader talks you through it and tells you the return time at each stop.
Amalfi, Ravello and Positano
Amalfi first, with the cathedral of Saint Andrew at the top of its staircase and the shops of handmade paper along the main street. From Amalfi the minibus, included, climbs to Ravello, the hill town above the coast: Villa Rufolo and its garden over the Gulf of Salerno are the thing to see, entrance paid on the spot. Then Positano from the sea, the way it should be seen, and free time in its lanes of boutiques and pottery. Lunch is not included; with three stops, pick one town to eat in.
