Vico Equense to Amalfi and Positano, with no changes

From Vico Equense the Amalfi Coast is close on the map and slow to reach: the road over the hills to Positano is narrow and full in summer, and the public ferry to Positano and Amalfi runs from Sorrento. This tour starts in your town. Tell us where you are staying and we send you the nearest meeting point; the transfer does the rest, there and back.

Along the Sorrento Coast

The first part of the cruise is the Sorrento Peninsula seen from the water: the terraces of Sorrento on top of the cliffs, the Baths of Queen Giovanna, the Bay of Ieranto and the marine protected area of Punta Campanella, the tip of the peninsula where the Gulf of Naples ends and the Gulf of Salerno begins, with Capri a few miles across the water. Then the Amalfi Coast proper: the Li Galli islands, Nerano, Praiano and the Fjord of Furore. The tour leader tells you what you are looking at as you pass.

Amalfi

The first stop is Amalfi, the town that gave the coast its name, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cathedral of Saint Andrew, up the staircase from the main square, is the thing to see; the rest of the free time goes on the main street, the paper and ceramics shops and a lemon granita. Lunch is not included, so decide early whether to eat here or in Positano. The tour leader gives you the time to be back on board.

Positano

Positano is the second stop: the houses stacked above the Spiaggia Grande, lanes of boutiques and hand-painted pottery, the church of Santa Maria Assunta with its tiled dome. The best photo of the town is from the boat as you leave, so keep the camera out. In the late afternoon the boat heads back along the coast to Seiano, and the transfer returns you to the meeting point in Vico Equense.

Prices and practical notes

Adults € 89, children aged 3 to 6 € 79, infants up to 2 free, the same price all season. Included: transfer to and from the meeting point, the cruise and the free time in both towns. Not included: lunch and any entrance tickets. Both towns are built on steps, so wear comfortable shoes; in summer bring a hat, water and sun cream. The route can change with the sea. Our Amalfi Coast map and Positano map help you plan the free time.
