Three towns at the no-pick-up price
With Ravello you see the three best-known towns of the coast in one day; without the transfer from the hotel you pay less for it than from Sorrento. The port of Marina di Cassano is easy to reach from Piano di Sorrento, Meta and Sant'Agnello, and if you are staying in Sorrento with a transfer the same day is the Positano, Amalfi and Ravello boat tour from Sorrento, from € 125.
The coast from the boat
Leaving Marina di Cassano the boat passes the terraces of Sorrento, the Baths of Queen Giovanna, the Bay of Ieranto and Punta Campanella, then the Li Galli islands, Nerano, Praiano and the Fjord of Furore. The tour leader tells you about each place and, more usefully, when to be back on board.
Amalfi and Ravello
The boat stops in Amalfi, and from there a minibus, included, takes you up the valley to Ravello, the town on the hill that has no harbour and cannot be reached from the sea. Villa Rufolo and its garden over the Gulf of Salerno are the sight, with the entrance paid on the spot; the square in front of the cathedral is one of the few flat places on the whole coast. Back down in Amalfi there is the cathedral of Saint Andrew at the top of its staircase and the shops of handmade paper.
Positano
The last stop is Positano, for an hour: the lanes of boutiques and hand-painted ceramics, the beach, the church of Santa Maria Assunta with its tiled dome. The photo of the whole town is from the boat. Then back along the coast to Marina di Cassano.
