The same tour, minus the transfer
This is our Positano and Amalfi boat day at the lowest price we offer it, because there is no pick-up: the meeting point is the port of Marina di Cassano in Piano di Sorrento, and you get there on your own. If you are staying in Piano di Sorrento, Meta or Sant'Agnello, or you have a car and somewhere to leave it, it is the sensible choice; from Sorrento with a transfer the same day is the Positano and Amalfi boat tour from Sorrento, € 84.
Where the boat goes
Out of Marina di Cassano the boat follows the peninsula, the terraces of Sorrento above the cliffs, the Baths of Queen Giovanna, the Bay of Ieranto, and rounds Punta Campanella into the Gulf of Salerno. Then the Amalfi Coast, the Li Galli islands, Nerano, Praiano, the Fjord of Furore, with the tour leader naming each place as you pass.
Three and a half hours in Amalfi, one in Positano
The long stop is Amalfi, and it is long on purpose: enough for the cathedral of Saint Andrew and its cloister, the Paper Museum in the old mill up the valley, a proper lunch and a walk along the seafront without watching the clock. Positano gets an hour, which is what the town needs for its lanes of boutiques and pottery, the beach and the photo from the jetty. Lunch and entrance tickets are not included. If you want the island instead of the coast from the same port, the Capri boat trip from Piano di Sorrento leaves at 8:00, from € 69.
Price and notes
Adults € 74 from April to June and from September to October, € 80 in July and August; children aged 3 to 6 € 64 and € 70; infants up to 2 free. Included: the cruise and the tour leader. Both towns are built on steps: comfortable shoes, and in summer a hat, water and sun cream. The itinerary can change with the sea. To add Ravello from the same port, see the Positano, Amalfi and Ravello boat tour from Piano di Sorrento, from € 115. All coast departures are on the Amalfi Coast boat tours page; the Amalfi Coast map helps you plan the stops.
