Great experience but the communication regarding details on the order and timing of the boat trips could have been a lot clearer prior to the day of the activity.

Trip, staff and location was fantastic our only issue was the operator in the office took payment for the visitors tax, private bus tickets and express tickets for the chairlift. At the end of the day when waiting for the return boat our guide Marco said we needed to pay the visitor tax, we stated we already paid this in the morning. It seem the operator that took the payment didn't register, he then started saying we only paid for the bus and chairlift, the FIRST THING HE SAYED FOR WAS THE VISITOR TAX so how he saying we didn't pay. This went on for some 15 minutes, we said look at the CCTV to see when we handed €150 we only got €5 change not what he said €25. At the end Marco said it's time for the boat with no apologies

We had a great experience with HP Travel from start to finish. They picked us up at a special meeting location, so we didn't have to deal with the traffic in Sorrento, which was very convenient. Luciana was amazing and caring. The staff had great personalities, were friendly, professional, and very helpful. Translation was available in Spanish, English, Italian, and French, which made everything very easy. The trip also included a beautiful boat ride around the island, limoncello, and transportation back at the end of the day. I personally chose the €25 option for transportation around the island, and I highly recommend it. It made getting around Capri much easier and allowed us to enjoy the island without worrying about transportation. Overall, an excellent experience. Highly recommended! 🇮🇹🍋⛵️

The guide Michele was fantastic very attentive and helpful. It was disappointing that we couldn't go into the grotto but that's not the companies fault as they rely on the tides to be right. Overall a great experience and well worth the trip.

We had a great trip to Capri. Our guide Michele was great. He was great at making sure we saw all the sites and always checking if we needed anything.

Michele was excellent and we had a great time. We skipped the blue grotto and spent more time on the island. The blue grotto was closed anyways. Just be aware that that can happen. They will refund that portion if it does. Everything was well organized and communication was very good. We had a great time.

Rather go on your own?

There is also the direct HP Travel ferry from Sorrento, returning in the afternoon. Timetable and tickets

Ferry plus cruise, then the island is yours

This is the middle way between a plain ferry ticket and a guided tour. You get the round trip to Capri and the cruise around the island, which is the part most people miss, and then a free afternoon with no group to follow. The meeting point is at 7:30 at Ristorante Ruccio in piazza Marinai d’Italia, by the port of Marina Piccola in Sorrento; the boat leaves at 8:00 with the Sorrento coastline behind you.

The cruise around Capri

At Marina Grande you go straight onto the boat tour around the island, before the free time: the White Grotto and the Green Grotto, the Natural Arch high above the water, the Faraglioni and the lighthouse at Punta Carena. The tour leader points out what you are passing. The Blue Grotto is not included; you can arrange it yourself later, and our Blue Grotto guide explains how.

Five hours on the island

Then you are free until the boat back. The classic day: the bus up to Anacapri for Villa San Michele, the Casa Rossa and the chairlift to Monte Solaro, the highest point of the island; then down to Capri town for via Camerelle, the Piazzetta and the Gardens of Augustus above the Faraglioni. Buses and taxis connect the two towns, and the funicular links the port with Capri town; tickets are paid on the spot, as is lunch. Plan your stops before you land, because five hours go quickly; the Capri map helps.

Price and practical notes

Adults € 76, children aged 3 to 6 € 66, infants up to 2 free. Included: the round-trip ticket to Capri, the cruise around the island and the tour leader on board. Not included: the € 5 landing fee, the Blue Grotto and tickets on the island. Comfortable shoes, hat and sun cream, especially in summer. Be back at the port of Marina Grande in time for the 15:15 boat.

Other Capri departures from Sorrento

If you would rather have a guide on the island, the guided tour of Capri and Anacapri from Sorrento adds a licensed guide and a minibus, from € 143. For the ferry alone, without the cruise, there is the Sorrento to Capri ferry. All departures are on the excursions from Sorrento page.
