Naples to the Amalfi Coast: the public route and the private one

By public transport, Naples to Positano or Amalfi means a train to Sorrento or Salerno and then the SITA bus along the coast road, with your bags on your knees and, in summer, a queue at the stop. A taxi from Naples to the Amalfi Coast exists, but the fare is agreed on the spot and the car is rarely big enough for a family with luggage. The private transfer has a fixed price agreed in advance, a vehicle that takes everyone and everything, and a driver who knows the coast road, where the driving is the hard part.

Pick-up and drop-off

We collect you at Naples International Airport, at Napoli Centrale in piazza Garibaldi, at the cruise terminal or the ferry port, or at a hotel or apartment in the city, and take you to the place you are staying: hotel, villa, holiday home or B&B, in any town on the coast. Many houses in Positano and Praiano are reached only by steps; tell us when you book and the driver leaves you at the nearest point the road allows.

Late flights and early departures

The transfer earns its keep when public transport is not running: a late landing at Capodichino or an early flight out leaves no useful connections for the coast. Give us the flight or train number and we agree the departure time around your arrival or your check-in, with a margin for traffic.

The drive

From Naples the motorway runs to Castellammare, then the road crosses the Sorrento Peninsula and drops down to the coast; for Amalfi and Ravello the driver may take the pass over the Lattari mountains from Angri instead. Allow an hour and a half to two and a half hours depending on destination and traffic. On the coast road you have the sea below you and a town at every bend; ask the driver if you want a stop for a photo or a coffee. Assistance in English and Italian.
