I had an amazing day with our guide and big star Anastasia. She's full of energy, funny and very knowledgeable. She took good care of us all day. She made sure we were all enjoying ourselves and getting all the info. A big thank you 😊

Enjoyable day. Very well organised in particular that Capri has high tourist traffic. Our guide Anastasia was very knowledgeable, helpful, and kind and provided clear instructions and detailed information. Our skipper Christian was very entertaining and also provided interesting fun facts. Overall a great day and our bus pick up and returns were comfortable as were the boats. Highly recommend.

Brilliant day! All ran very smoothly; lovely calm ferry ride and the tour around the island was very informative and pretty. We opted to not have the swim stop; and had 4 hours free time in Capri. We decided to spend our time in Anacapri as the less busy and more lovely part of town, which was lovely. Anastasia was a brilliant guide, very knowledgeable but also kept everything and everyone on track. My only feedback would be regarding the transfer to the Ferry in the AM. We were coming in from Naples area and had to wait an hour before the ferry left. While it was nice and sunny and I could read my book, it also felt like the transfer could be a bit later to reduce this wait time.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Tour! We had a wonderful time on the Gulf of Naples and Capri sightseeing tour. The experience was very well organised and made for a perfect day on the water. A special thanks to our guide Anastasia, who was friendly, helpful and made the tour even more enjoyable. We first travelled by boat to Capri, had some time to explore and enjoy the beautiful island, and then continued on another boat to see the nearby attractions along the coast. The sightseeing was beautiful, and the swimming stop was definitely one of the highlights of the day. The whole experience was relaxing, fun and offered some amazing views of Capri and the surrounding coastline. Highly recommended if you're visiting Naples/Capri and want to experience the area from the sea! 🌊⛵️🏝️

Rather go on your own?

There is also the direct HP Travel ferry from Torre del Greco, returning in the afternoon. Timetable and tickets

From Portici and Torre del Greco to Capri by sea

If you are staying at the foot of Vesuvius, the usual way to Capri is a train or a taxi to Naples and then the hydrofoil, with the crowd at Molo Beverello. This tour leaves from your side of the Gulf. Tell us where you are staying and we give you the closest meeting point in Portici or Torre del Greco; the transfer takes you to the port, the Granatello marina in Portici or the Muraglione pier in Torre del Greco, and you step on the boat there.

The crossing is the first part of the day: the view of Capri from Naples turns into the view of Naples and Vesuvius from the sea, and the assistant explains how the day works and how to use the free time. On arrival at Marina Grande you pay the landing fee of the town of Capri, € 5 per person, which is not in the price.

Free time on Capri

From the port the funicular climbs in a few minutes to the Piazzetta, piazza Umberto I, the centre of Capri town. Ten minutes on foot take you to the Gardens of Augustus, with the view over the Faraglioni, Marina Piccola and the bends of via Krupp. If you prefer somewhere quieter, take the bus to Anacapri: from there the chairlift goes up Monte Solaro, the highest point of the island, and Villa San Michele is a short walk away. Bus, funicular, chairlift and tickets are paid on the spot. The Blue Grotto is not in the programme; if you want to visit it, ask the assistant how much time you need and see our Blue Grotto guide for times and prices.

The boat tour around Capri

In the afternoon everyone meets at the port for the part you cannot see from land. The boat passes the White Grotto, the Natural Arch and the headland of Villa Malaparte, reaches the Faraglioni, the three rocks that stand for the island, and follows the bay of Marina Piccola. On the south side it enters the Green Grotto, named after the colour of its water, and reaches the lighthouse at Punta Carena on the western tip; on the way back along the north coast you see the entrance of the Blue Grotto from outside and Villa San Michele above the cliffs, before returning to Marina Grande.

With or without the swimming stop

In April, May and October the tour runs without a swim: adults € 84, children aged 3 to 6 € 74. From June to September you choose: without the swimming stop € 95 (€ 110 in July and August), with the swimming stop € 110 (€ 125 in July and August). Infants up to 2 travel free. If you take the swim, wear the swimsuit under your clothes and bring a towel.

Practical notes

Capri means walking uphill: comfortable shoes, and in summer a hat and sun cream. Lunch is not included, and it pays to decide early where to eat, because the restaurants between the Piazzetta and the Gardens of Augustus fill up. Download the Capri map before you go. The route of the cruise can change with the sea.

Other ways to reach Capri from the Vesuvius area

If you want a guide on land as well, there is the guided tour of Capri and Anacapri from Portici and Torre del Greco, from € 119. If you only need the crossing, HP Travel ferries run from Torre del Greco and from Portici. For pick-up in the city centre, see the Capri boat tour from Naples. All departures are on the Capri boat tours page.
