Who this tour is for
If you reach Capri on your own, by ferry from Naples, Sorrento or the Amalfi Coast, or you are staying on the island, you do not need a day trip with a crossing. You need what happens after Marina Grande. This is that: the meeting point is at the port, a few steps from the ferry piers, so you can arrive on a morning boat and be with the guide at 10:30.
Capri and Anacapri with a licensed guide
The island is small and steep, and the public bus between Capri town and Anacapri fills up by mid-morning. Your group has its own minibus, so the time goes on the places rather than the queues.
Anacapri
The upper town: white lanes, small squares, the view down over the Gulf of Naples. From here the chairlift climbs to Monte Solaro, the highest point of Capri; the ride is optional, the ticket is not included, and the guide tells you how much time you have.
Capri town
The walk takes in the Piazzetta, piazza Umberto I, and the Gardens of Augustus, the terraces above the Faraglioni and the hairpin bends of via Krupp. In the lanes around the Piazzetta you taste the limoncello, made from the lemons of the coast, and pass the workshops that make sandals and perfume on the island. There is free time for shopping before the boat.
The boat trip around the island
The second half of the tour is the discovery of Capri from the water: the Marvellous Grotto, the White Grotto and the Green Grotto, Villa Malaparte on its headland, the Natural Arch, and the Faraglioni, where the boat passes through the Arch of Love in the middle rock when the sea is calm. The Blue Grotto is not part of the tour because of the waiting time at its entrance; our Blue Grotto guide explains how to visit it on your own.
