My sister, mom and I really enjoyed this day trip. I would even say it exceeded our expectations. We got picked up from Pompeii, the pickup location was easy find. The guide Elena was great, spoke perfect English and explained the plan really well. We ferried over to Capri and then got taken to their office where they gave us a map and recommendations of things to do during our 5 hours of free time. I personally would recommend having a plan ahead of time so you can just go straight to it. We chose to go up the funicular to the main town for €5 return trip. We walked around the main town and then paid to go into the Augustus Gardens, it was €2.50 and the views from there were phenomenal. We took our time there and enjoyed the views. We continued stroll around town and then went back down to the free public beach and spent 2 hours there swimming and laying on the beach. After that we met with the group again and had an hour long cruise around the whole island. Beautiful views.

Amazing day trip to Capri, the guide was amazing the whole way through, always making sure we knew exactly what was happening, where we needed to meet and what time. Loads of free time in Capri, plenty of time to see both parts of the island which is just absolutely beautiful 😍 then a lovely boat tour around the island at the end of the day! Dropped off and picked up right outside our hotel, cannot complain about anything 😁 easily worth the money and a must-see if travelling to the Amalfi coast!

Elena the tour guide was superb. Helpful and friendly. The whole team was good especially at the 'blue' bus stops. The beat the queue ticket for the chair lift was a great idea. The boat trip was amazing, especially the way the Captain got the boat so close.

Elena was really great. Definitely recommend the swimming stop option. The best way to see the island. We took the public transport option to get around the island. Buses were crowded but it was very cheap €2.50 per trip.

Rather go on your own?

There is also the direct HP Travel ferry from Vico Equense (Seiano), returning in the afternoon. Timetable and tickets

The same day as our Capri minicruise, plus the swim

From April to October we run a Capri boat tour from Vico Equense at € 89. This is its summer version: the same transfer, crossing, free time and round-the-island cruise, with one addition that changes the day when it is hot. The boat stops, you go in the water. For € 15 more it is the best half hour of the tour.

From Vico Equense along the Sorrento Coast

Tell us where you are staying and we send you the nearest meeting point. The transfer takes you to Seiano and the boat leaves along the coast of the peninsula: fishing villages, terraces above the sea, then open water with Vesuvius behind you and Capri growing ahead. The assistant explains how the day is organised and hands out a map of the island. At Marina Grande you pay the landing fee of the town of Capri, € 5 per person.

Free time in Capri

You have several hours. The funicular from the port reaches the Piazzetta, piazza Umberto I, in a few minutes; from there it is a ten-minute walk to the Gardens of Augustus above the Faraglioni and via Krupp. For a quieter side of the island take the bus to Anacapri, with the chairlift to Monte Solaro and Villa San Michele. Tickets for funicular, bus, chairlift and villas are paid on the spot. The Blue Grotto is not in the programme; see the Blue Grotto guide if you want to fit it in on your own.

The cruise around the island and the swimming stop

In the afternoon the boat goes round Capri: the Marvellous Grotto, the White Grotto and the Green Grotto, Villa Malaparte on its rock, the Faraglioni and the Arch of Love in the middle one when the sea allows. Then the swimming stop in the bay of Marina Piccola, below the Faraglioni, sea permitting. Wear the swimsuit under your clothes, because there are no changing rooms on board, and bring a towel. Back at Seiano the transfer takes you to the meeting point.

Price and practical notes

Adults € 104, children aged 3 to 6 € 94, infants up to 2 free. Included: transfer, crossing, map, cruise around the island, swimming stop and free time. Not included: the landing fee, lunch and tickets on the island. Comfortable shoes for Capri, hat and sun cream for the boat. The Capri map helps you plan the hours ashore. The route can change with the sea.

Other departures from Vico Equense

Without the swim, and from April, there is the Capri minicruise from Vico Equense; with a tasting on board, the Capri boat tour from Seiano with limoncello. For the crossing only, HP Travel runs the Seiano to Capri ferry. For the coast, the Amalfi and Positano boat tour from Vico Equense. All departures are on the Capri boat tours page.
